Winter Juniors Qualifier Aubrey Bowles Sends Verbal to Villanova

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Aubrey Bowles, a native of Richmond, Virginia, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Villanova University after his graduation in the spring. Bowles swims for Nova of Virginia Aquatics as well as for his high school, St. Christopher’s School.

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at Villanova University! Thank you to my family and coaches for their unending support. #GoWildcats #AllGloryToHim”

Bowles was a two-event finalist at the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Swimming and Diving State Championships in the spring. He finished 3rd in the 500 free (4:37.98) and 5th in the 200 free (1:44.19). He also led off his schools 3rd place 200 medley relay with a 50 back time of 24.79.

Just three weeks later he further lowered his best times at the Virginia Swimming Senior Championships. He added new best times in the 500 free (4:36.50), 1000 free (9:25.93), 1650 free (15:44.80), 200 back (1:51.47), and 400 IM (4:10.51).

Top SCY Times

  • 200 free – 1:44.19
  • 500 free – 4:36.50
  • 1000 free – 9:25.93
  • 1650 free – 15:44.80

Last season the Villanova men took 4th out of 5 teams at the 2020 Big East Swimming and Diving Conference Championships.

The Wildcats were led in the distance events by a pair of freshman, Jake Mcintyre and Reid Hutcherson. Mcintyre took 5th in the 1650 free, 7th in the 500 free, and 8th in the 200 free while Hutcherson added a 6th place finish in the 200 free and a 7th place finish in the 1650 free.

Bowles will have the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference meet after he arrives on campus next fall. With his best times he would have finished 6th in the 1650 free and 12th in the 500 free.

Bowles will join Carson Brockette, Andrew Mitchill, Joshua Brown, and Henry Halloran as a member of Villanova’s class of 2025.
