Oviedo, Florida’s Gabby Goodwin has announced her verbal commitment to Florida State University. She will head to Tallahassee in the fall of 2023 after graduating from Oviedo High School where she is currently a junior.
Goodwin swims year-round with Blue Dolfins. She is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 1650 free and 200 fly and a Futures qualifier in the 200 back.
As a sophomore at the 2020 Florida High School Class 4A State Championships last November, she placed 7th in the 500 free and 10th in the 200 free, earning PBs in both events (4:53.92/1:52.11). Since then, she has lowered her time in the 200 free to 1:51.80. She earned that time, along with PBs in the 1650 free and 400 IM, at the 2021 Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships. There, she was runner-up in the 400 IM, third in the 500/1650 free, fifth in the 200 fly, and seventh in the 200 free and 200 back, making top-8 in all her events.
At Huntsville Futures this summer, she notched lifetime bests in the LCM 200/1500 free, 200 back, 200 fly, and 400 IM, qualifying for Winter Juniors in the 200 fly (2:18.93).

Goodwin will overlap a year with distance swimmer Phoebe Griffiths, who led the Seminoles with 4:44.91/16:33.57 last season as a freshman. Florida State finished seventh of 12 teams at the 2021 ACC Women’s Championships. Goodwin’s times will make her an immediate impact player when she arrives in the fall of 2023. It took 4:50.39 in the 500 free, 4:23.54 in the 400 IM, and 17:01.04 in the 1650 free to score at the 2021 conference meet.
