Winter Juniors Qualifier Mary-Stuart Hawkins Verbally Commits To Georgetown (2025)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mary-Stuart Hawkins has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Georgetown University. Hawkins is a rising high school senior at St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, Virginia, and will arrive at Georgetown next fall ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Georgetown University! I would like to thank my parents, friends, and coaches for helping me get to this point. I’d also like to thank the coaches at Georgetown for giving me this opportunity! HOYA SAXA!!” or insta

Hawkins trains and competes year-round with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, which is a Gold Medal club under USA Swimming’s Club Excellence rankings. She leans towards the longer events, and is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 1000, 1650, and 400 IM.

This spring, Hawkins earned 7th in the 1500m free at the NCSA Spring Championships in a best time of 17:21.11. She also notched a personal best in the 800m free to take 18th (9:13.21) and dropped over 6 seconds in the 400m IM for 17th (5:01.07). Just prior to NCSAs she  put up a number of strong performances at the VSI SC Senior Champs, including taking 3rd in the 1000 (10:06.78) & 1650 (16:45.65), and 5th in the 200 breast (2:22.17) with all swims establishing new personal best times.

Her high school season this spring was highlighted by the VISAA State Championship in February. She was the runner-up in both the 500 (4:58.50) and 200 IM (2:04.80), again hitting best times in both.

Top SCY Times

  • 500 free – 4:58.50
  • 1000 free – 10:06.78
  • 1650 free – 16:45.65
  • 200 back – 2:02.46
  • 200 breast – 2:22.17
  • 200 IM – 2:04.65
  • 400 IM – 4:21.38

The Georgetown women finished 3rd out of 7 teams at the 2024 Big East Conference Championships. Their top individual performer was Erin Hood, who took 1st in both the 200 breast (2:13.10) and 400 IM (4:16.56).

Most of Hawkins’ top events would score at the conference level, however, her 1650 would have placed the highest this season. Kira Agne led Georgetown’s distance swimmers in 4th (16:51.06), but her season best was slightly faster than the time she swam at conference (16:50.94). Agne will overlap with Hawkins for two seasons, helping Georgetown build depth in the event.

Hawkins joins Charlotte natives Audrey Pardue and Lila Connor in Georgetown’s recruiting class of 2025.
