Winter U.S. Open Qualifier Audrey Olen (2024) Makes Verbal Commitment to Auburn

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Audrey Olen from Elm Grove, Wisconsin, has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Auburn University beginning in the fall of 2024.

“I’m beyond excited and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University 💙🧡 I am so thankful for my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for helping me get to where I am today. Can’t wait to be a tiger!!! WAR EAGLE 🦅”

A junior at Brookfield East High School, Olen swims year-round with Elmbrook Swim Club and specializes mainly in sprint freestyle and backstroke. As a sophomore, she placed fifth in the 200 free (1:51.12) and sixth in the 100 free (51.15) at the WIAA Girls Division 1 State Championship. In March, she updated nearly all her times (100 free, 50/100/200 back, and 50/100 fly) at the NCSA Spring Championships, where she finaled individually in the 100 free and 50 back.

In May, Olen clocked a Winter U.S. Open cut of 26.38 in the 50 free at the Indy Spring Cup. She also picked up PBs in the 100 free (58.60), 100 back (1:06.69), and 100 fly (1:04.02). In July, she lowered her PBs in the 200 free (2:07.61), 100 back (1:05.21), 200 back (2:25.30), and 100 fly (1:03.98) before heading to Irvine to compete at Summer Junior Nationals. She came in 44th in prelims of the 50 free and swam the 100 free and 100 fly in time trials, scoring a PB in the former with 58.03.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free – 23.56
  • 100 free – 50.83
  • 200 free – 1:51.12
  • 100 back – 56.05
  • 200 back – 2:04.35
  • 100 fly – 57.65

Auburn has a strong sprint tradition, and the current group is rather young, led by sophomore Lexie Mulvihill (22.16/49.28 last year), junior Emma Steckiel (22.40/49.94), senior Claudia Thamm (22.46/49.40), sophomore Rebekah Hamilton (22.70/48.59), junior Maggie Gholston (22.96/50.20), and freshman Carly Sebring.
