Wisconsin Breaststroker Lauren Stigler Commits Verbally to N Dakota

Muskego High School senior Lauren Stigler has given her verbal commitment to the University of North Dakota for 2017-18. Stigler explained to SwimSwam:

“I chose to swim and further my academics at the University of North Dakota because I love how the team did things together and encouraged each other with each other’s swimming and even in and outside of school. I absolutely fell in love with the campus as soon as I got there. The facilities they have for all students are remarkable! The way the team bonded and welcomed me with open arms was what I wanted in a team. I love how the coaching staff can be fun, yet determined to get the work done in the pool and in the classroom. I fell in love with UND and I couldn’t be more excited about my decision!”

Stigler is the reigning Wisconsin state champion in the 100 breast, having won the event at the WIAA Girls Division 1 State Meet. She was also sixth in the 200 IM, swam breast on the medley relay and anchored the 400 free relay.

Stigler swims year-round with Southwest Aquatic Team. She had an excellent spring season this past year, notching best times in many of her top events.

SCY LCM
50 breast 29.17 33.32
100 breast 1:02.97 1:12.37
200 breast 2:18.71 2:42.59
200 IM 2:04.99 2:26.75
50 fly 26.23 29.57
100 fly 57.55 1:06.30

Stigler’s 100 breast time would rank 3rd on UND’s all-time list; her 200 breast fourth, and her 200 IM fifth. At the 2016 WAC Championships, Stigler would have added points to the Fighting Hawks’ tally by scoring in the top 8 in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM, as well as the C final of the 100 fly.
