Wisconsin’s Erin Fons Commits to Minnesota State Moorhead

Erin Fons, a senior at Deforest High School in Deforest, Wisconsin and the DFAC Swimming Club, has made a verbal commitment to Minnesota State Moorhead for 2015-16.

“Moorhead had everything I could ask for in a college,” Fons said. “Right when I stepped on campus I felt right at home. I love the coach, the team, the campus, and the location of the school. Can’t wait till next fall to become a Dragon!”

Fons qualified for the Summer Junior Nationals after an outstanding long course Wisconsin state meet, dropping large amounts of time in several events. She has qualified for the Wisconsin High School State meet in the 100 Breaststroke the last 3 seasons. She is a captain this season and has swum everywhere the team needed her, showing her versatility in the freestyle events and relays in addition to the breaststroke.

Top Times:

  • 100 Breast – 1:07.36
  • 100 Breast (LCM) – 1:15.43
  • 200 Breast – 2:29.54
  • 200 Breast (LCM) – 2:44.53
  • 50 Breast – 31.00
  • 50 Breast (LCM) – 33.91
  • 50 Freestyle – 25.00
  • 100 Freestyle – 56.47
  • 200 IM – 2:16.47
  • 200 IM (LCM) – 2:38.00

Fons will be a solid addition to the Moorhead team. She’ll join established breaststroking mainstay Jackie Woods during Woods’ final season, and help on the relays and in IM events as well. There is a strong freshman class coming in for the Dragons, which will be fun to watch over the next several years.

Best of luck to you Erin. Katie is looking forward to swimming against her “daughter” at mid season Rochester meet next year. You have been a great teammate for many years, you deserve the best.
