Women’s 200 Butterfly Podium Faster In Paris Than In Tokyo (Day 6 Analysis)

The women’s 200 butterfly podium all got faster this year than it took to win the respective medals in Tokyo. Summer McIntosh led the way with an Olympic Record of a 2:03.03, faster than the 2:03.86 it took to win in Tokyo.

Regan Smith won silver again, winning in a 2:05.30 in Tokyo but was much faster today in a 2:03.84. Zhang Yufei was back on the podium after winning in Tokyo and swam a 2:05.09 today.

Not all of the finals tonight were faster tonight though. Tonight’s winning time in the men’s 200 backstroke of a 1:54.26 would have only won bronze in Tokyo.

The semifinals data did not change much. The men’s 50 free and 200 IM got slightly faster overall to make the final while the women’s 200 backstroke was slightly slower.
