World Champion Torri Huske Signs With WME Sports for NIL Representation

2022 world champion and Tokyo Olympic medalist Torri Huske has signed with WME Sports for a NIL representation. WME (William Morris Endeavor) Sports is one of the world’s biggest talent agencies.

Huske, a rising junior at Stanford University, will remain in college and compete in the NCAA as her deal falls under the NCAA’s NIL (name, image and likeness) agreement that started in July 2021.

Huske, 20, is the defending world champion in the women’s 100 butterfly and one of the top swimmers in the U.S., as she was one of five American women to win an individual gold medal at last summer’s World Championships in Budapest.

She won the 100 fly in an American Record time of 55.64, less than two-tenths shy of the world record (55.48), and added two more world titles in the women’s and mixed 400 medley relays, and won three more bronze medals in the 100 free, women’s 400 free relay and mixed 400 free relay.

After winning five gold medals at the 2019 World Junior Championships, Huske made her first impact on the senior international stage in 2021, first breaking the American Record in the women’s 100 fly at the U.S. Olympic Trials before placing fourth in the event in her Olympic debut. She added a silver medal on the U.S. women’s 400 medley relay in Tokyo.

A native of Arlington, Va., Huske has also won a combined 10 medals (six gold) at the Short Course World Championships between the 2021 edition in Abu Dhabi and the 2022 meet in Melbourne.

In the NCAA,  Huske is coming off an incredibly successful sophomore season with the Cardinal, placing second in the 100 free and 200 IM and third in the 100 fly. Her swim in the 200 IM was under the American Record coming into the competition, while in the 100 fly she became the third swimmer in history under the 49-second barrier.

In her freshman year, she was the runner-up in the 100 fly and 200 IM and placed ninth in the 100 free.

WME Sports is a division of Endeavor, an American holding company for talent and media agencies based out of California. Notable athletes represented by WME include tennis stars Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic, NBA stars Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic, and golfer Jordan Spieth.

Huske adds to a growing group of collegiate athletes that have signed with WME, including Kansas men’s basketball player Gradey Dick and UCLA women’s basketball player Deja Kelly.

Johnny Juzang, a former UCLA basketball star who is now with the Utah Jazz in the NBA, was one of the first student-athletes to sign a NIL deal with WME back in 2021.

She seems to be the unique sprinter equally good at both LCM and SCY. The pretentious Mel would consider her a “real” swimmer. SMH.

to be fair, aren’t the majority of good LCM sprinters also good in SCY?

We don’t know. Majority of good LCM sprinters don’t swim in SCY.

Tokyo Olympics:

Men’s

Only 4 of 16 50 free semifinalists swam in SCY.

Only 4 of 16 100 free semifinalists swam in SCY.

Women’s:

Only 2 of 50 free semifinalists swam in SCY.

Only 4 of 100 free semifinalists swam in SCY

limiting the comparison to just SCY and not SCM seems a little arbitary. Your list leaves out Emma Mckeon, Sarah Sjostrum, Kyle Chalmers, Flo, etc who are some of the best SCM swimmers because they didn’t grow up in the US or swim in the NCAA. SCY and SCM are almost interchangable in terms of who will be good in either format.

let me correct: most sprinters who are good at LCM and also have swum SCY are also good at SCY.

Manuel, Comerford, Huske Weitzeil are the 4 Americans who have been sub 53 long course and they’re obv all extremely fast in the SCY event; MacNeil, Huske, Dahlia/Worrell, Curzan, Louise Hansson, and Regan Smith make up most of the swimmers who have been sub 57 fly and also swam SCY and they are sub 50.0 there (the only one I can think of who isn’t as fast SCY is Vollmer who was 55.9 but only like 50.4 SCY)
