World’s Elite Divers Heading to Madrid for Diving Grand Prix 2016

The three-day event featuring a total of 56 divers (28 men and 28 women) from 14 countries* will gather for the inaugural leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix 2016, organised in the Spanish capital from February 15-17.

The Madrid’s leg is composed of eight events, the 3m springboard (16 men, 15 women), 10m platform (8, men, 11 women), and the synchro events (3m and 10m). The competition will resume on Friday January 15 at 10am and conclude on Sunday January 17 around midday.

Last year’s edition of the Grand Prix saw diving powerhouse China blitzed to win most medals at stake alongside Australia and Canada who were often on the podium too.

The Grand Prix will then take the athletes in Rostock, Germany, for the circuit’s second leg, on January 29-31.

*Countries taking part in the Madrid leg are: Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and Venezuela
