Marcel Wouda and Mark Faber have been named as the head coaches of the Nederlands’ National Training Center (NTC) in Eindhoven and Amsterdam.
Wouda brings years of experience and success to the NTC, both in the pool and in open water. In Rio de Janiero, Wouda was the head coach of the Netherlands‘ open water swim, bringing home two gold medals for Ferry Weertman and Sharon Van Rouwendaal.
As an accomplished Paralymic Swimmer, Mark Faber will bring a different perspective to the NTC. This past September at the Paralympic Games in Rio, Faber came back from with 21 medals in Paralympic swimming. With the move to Amsterdam, he will be taking the next step in his coaching career. “I have had a fantastic time with the Paralympic team. I am now confident to take up this new challenge together with Marcel” said Faber in an interview with KNTZ, “the experience and knowledge that Mark has gained in recent years in setting up a complete swimming program from scouting to elite is very valuable. ”
“The combination of these two coaches with their experience and knowledge makes a strong tandem,” stated NTC technical director Andre Cats.
Within the upcoming weeks several coaching positions at both National Training Centers will be filled. Marcel Wouda will be responsible for these decisions at Top Swimming Amsterdam under technical director Andre Cats.
