Dillon Virva, a USA Swimming National Team member and a part of the United States’ team for the 2017 World University Games, swam a sub-23 second 50 freestyle on Friday at the Pacific Northwest Swimming Senior Long Course Champs.
He won the race in 22.99, eight-tenths faster than his nearest competitor (17-year old Andrew Boden, in 23.74).
He was one of two winners on Friday who are preparing for a big summer championship meet. Emma Carlton from the Bellingham Bay Swim Team, a Texas A&M commit, won the women’s 100 fly in 1:00.93. That’s her best time of the summer and just a tenth shy of her lifetime best in the event. She’s swimming the 50 fly at World Juniors in Indianapolis next month.
Other Day 2 Winners:
- As a follow-up to his 1:01 in the 100 breaststroke on Thursday, 17-year old Daniel Roy won the 200 breaststroke on Friday in 2:14.46. He also won the 200 IM in 2:05.30 – a new lifetime best for him.
- 15-year old KING swimmer Sam Baron won the women’s 200 IM in 2:20.33. King took 3 of the top 4 spots in that race.
- Gabby Dang from Wave Aquatics won the women’s 50 free in 26.16.
- Sarah DiMeco won the women’s 400 free in 4:19.77
- The men’s 400 free went to Alex Wright of ESC in 4:04.27, beating out Vladislav Elizarov in 4:05.01.
- Michael Chwaluk won the men’s 100 fly in 56.48, which gives him the first Summer Juniors time standard of his young career.
- 13-year old Maya Clise from King won the women’s 200 breaststroke in 2:37.83. That makes her the second-fastest 13-year old in the country this season. Her finish led a 1-2-3-4-5 placement for King.
- King took wins in the women’s 200 medley relay, the men’s 200 medley relay, and the men’s 800 free relay. They were upset in the women’s 800 free relay by the Bellevue Club Swim Team

Kudos to the King coaches for a great meet.
Lots of great swims at this meet. Several kids got summer juniors and U.S. open cuts. Many LSC records fell as well.
