Xie Wins Second Gold On Final Day Of Chinese National Championships

On the final day of the Chinese National Championships in Huangshan Xie Zhi collected his second gold in the 200 breaststroke winning in a time of 2:15.07. Xie pulled out the victory in a tight race with Yan Zebei who finished second in a time of 2:15.52. Xie won the 50 breaststroke yesterday and just missed on sweeping the breaststroke events losing the 100 by eight one-hundredths of a second to Mao Feilian on the first day of the competition.

Bi Yirong also won her second event of the competition taking the women’s 800 freestyle in a time of 8:36.01.

The meet which was held of the past five days hosted 304 athletes, but with many of the top national team members bypassing the event along with Olympic champion Ye Shiwen choosing to swim off events the competition’s results have not been exemplary.

Top three finishes on the final day of competition were as follows:

Women’s 50m freestyle:

1. Suo Ran, Chinese Navy, 25.69 seconds

2. Yin Fan, Shanghai, 25.73

3. Wu Yue, Zhejiang, 25.76

Men’s 50m freestyle:

1. Ban Bao, Liaoning, 22.84

2. Liu Xuewu, Zhejiang, 23.10

3. Lou Junyi, Zhejiang, 23.18

Women’s 400m individual medley:

1. Wang Xinya, Guangdong, four minutes 48.26 seconds

2. Shi Yu, Bayi, 4:51.83

3. Chen Ziyi, Shanxi, 4:52.48

Men’s 200m breaststroke:

1. Xie Zhi, Yunnan, 2:15.07

2. Yan Zibei, Hubei, 2:15.52

3. Zhang Zhihao, Shanghai, 2:17.94

Women’s 800m freestyle:

1. Bi Yirong, Zhejiang, 8:36.01

2. Liu Yiru, Chinese Navy, 8:38.45

3. Yan Siyu, Bayi, 8:41.80

Men’s 400m freestyle:

1. He Tianqi, Zhejiang, 3:50.77

2. Wu Yuhang, Zhejiang, 3:53.44

3. Shang Keyuan, Zhejiang, 3:54.64

Women’s 4x100m medley relay:
