Yakov Toumarkin of Israel sets a new national record in the semi-final of the 100m IM on day 4 of the 2015 European Short Course Championships. He touched the pads in a time of 52.75. The previous record was held by Gal Nevo, a time of 52.95, done at the 2012 European Short Course Championships in France.
Toumarkin was out in a time of 23.90 after the fly and back leg of the race and came home in 28.85 to result in his new record time. He is now the 3rd fastest time in the world this season for this event.
He is definitely making an impact at this years championships. On day 1, he tied his own national record mark of 1:49.84 in the 200m backstroke, finishing 2nd in the final. Toumarkin is seeded 2nd for tomorrow nights final, behind Russian Sergei Fesikov, seeded 1st with a time of 52.19 and ahead of Belgium’s Emmanuel Vanluchene, seeded 3rd with a time of 52.91.
