The Bahamas Swimming Federation has announced its 36-member team, which will be heading to the 2015 Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA) Games slated for April 4-6th in Bridgetown, Barbados.  This year marks the 44th edition of the annual games, which grants participation across multiple sporting disciplines only to those countries associated with CARIFTA, such as St. Kitts and Nevis, Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.

Bahamian “Junior Swimmer of the Year”, Joanna Evans, headlines the Bahamian team selected after last week’s time trials at the Betty Kelly Kenning Swim Club; an event in which several members of SwimMAC Elite attended. The Bahamas will attempt to defend their 2014 CARIFTA title, a task in which Bahamas Swim Federation President, Algernon Cargill has full confidence.  He told Tribune 242 that ““It’s pretty much the same team as last year with 75 per cent of the team returning from last year…..our focus is to go to Barbados and defend our title.”

Cargill also commented that the recent visit by Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace and other SwimMAC Elite swim stars motivated the Bahamian swimmers and “hopefully they will be even more inspired to go to Barbados and produce another spectacular performance to kick off the 2015 international season for the Bahamas.”

The complete Bahamas CARIFTA team roster can be found here.
