Zeiger, Francis Named Big Ten Women’s Co-Swimmers of the Week

Minnesota’s Brooke Zeiger and Penn State’s Casey Francis were named co-swimmers of the week by the Big Ten. Zeiger set a new school record in the 400 meter IM twice at the Arena Pro Swim Minneapolis before going on to break a school record in the 200 IM as well. Francis earned double wins at the Penn State Invite in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:05.37) and 500-yard freestyle (4:51.70).

Co-Swimmers of the Week
Brooke Zeiger, Minnesota

So. – Cumberland, R.I.

  • Broke Minnesota’s 400-meter individual medley record in both prelims and finals, while also setting a new Golden Gopher record in the 200-meter individual medley at the Arena Pro Swim Series
  • Collected fourth- and seventh-place finishes in the 400-meter individual medley (4:42.49) and 200-meter individual medley (2:17.81) events
  • Times in the individual medley events convert to NCAA provisional qualifying times, per NCAA conversion standards
  • Earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award
  • Last Minnesota Swimmer of the Week: Samantha Harding (Oct. 14, 2015)

Casey Francis, Penn State

Jr. – East Meadow, N.Y. – Pine Crest

  • Finished first in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:05.37) and 500-yard freestyle (4:51.70), while adding a second-place mark in the 400-yard individual medley (4:22.97) at the Penn State Invite
  • Broke the Penn State and McCoy Natatorium records in the 1,650-yard freestyle, recording an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the event, and currently leads the nation by over 20 seconds
  • The Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award
  • Last Penn State Swimmer of the Week: Amy Modglin (Jan. 15, 2013)

Diver of the Week

Lacey Houser, Indiana

Sr. – Danville, Ind. – Danville Community

  • Swept the springboard diving events against Wisconsin, scoring 325.13 points in the one-meter event and 362.25 points in the three-meter competition
  • Recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both events
  • Earns her second career Diver of the Week honor
  • Last Indiana Diver of the Week: Jessica Parratto (Feb. 3, 2015)

Co-Freshmen of the Week
Miranda Tucker, Indiana

Fr. – Plymouth, Mich. – Watford Cyber Academy

  • Finished first in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:32.41) and 200-meter individual medley (2:21.75), and added a second-place mark in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:10.56) against Wisconsin
  • Times in the breaststroke events convert to NCAA provisional qualifying times, per NCAA conversion standards
  • Collects her second Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Indiana Freshman of the Week: Lilly King (Nov. 11, 2015)

Rachel Munson, Minnesota

Fr. – Shorewood, Wis. – Shorewood High School

  • Recorded times of 1:09.36 in the 100-meter breaststroke and 2:32.90 in the 200-meter breaststroke events at the Arena Pro Swim Series
  • Times in the breaststroke events convert to NCAA provisional qualifying times, per NCAA conversion standards
  • Collects her second Freshman of the Week award
