Zoe Skirboll from Racer X Aquatics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has cracked the top-ten all-time in the 50 free for the 13-14 age group. Skirboll notched a personal-best time of 26.04 in prelims on Saturday morning to qualify fifth for the final. That time moved her to tie for seventeenth place on the all-time list. In the final she knocked another 10/100 off her new PB to break 26 seconds for the first time. Her new lifetime best of 25.94 now ranks as the ninth-fastest in history for 13-14 girls.
Not a bad birthday present.
In fact, Skirboll turned 15 on Saturday but was still 14 when the meet began, so the swim counts in the 13-14 age category.
Skirboll is one of only eleven swimmers in the age group to have broken 26 seconds:
Rank | Time | Swimmer | Meet | Date | Location |
1 | 25.23 | Missy Franklin | 2009 Speedo Junior Nationals | 8/9/2009 | Federal Way |

Skirboll’s swim also ties for 81st on the all-time 15-16 list, as a reference. It takes 25.28 to crack the top-10 for that age category.
Zoe’s birthday is August 11!
So she was 14 still.
Congratulations Zoe and Happy Bday!!!!!

Not to take away from a fantastic swim from the young girl, but that’s a pretty odd rule ha.
It’s a silly rule.
Imagine trying to administer a meet where swimmers swim in different age groups throughout the meet. Age Group High Points awards?
Exactly. This is a perfectly reasonable rule and extends a b-day cutoff by a few days at most.
